太平天国是一场因洪秀全受梁发《劝世良言》影响而爆发的排满运动,但当时只有传教士与部分中国人了解这一点。是谁将太平天国与基督教结合起来的呢?更直接而言,将两者结合起来的梁发与其著作《劝世良言》是从何时开始才引起人们的注意的呢?从中国的基督教历史来看辛亥革命,当初作为排满象征的太平天国,是经过基督教界的“发现”梁发后,才与革命相连接的。开始注意到太平天国带有基督教色彩的,主要是辛亥革命后活跃于地方社会的基督教徒,以及与太平天国关系密切的粤港基督教徒。辛亥革命为再度诠释太平天国提供了契机。
