In the context of contemporary naturalism, asking “what am I?” Has very important theoretical significance. The current naturalist options on the issue of individual ontology mainly nihilism, animalism, constructivism and four-dimensional theory. Among them, animalism provides us with a basic naturalistic framework to grasp and solve the problem of personality identity. However, this animalism, which focuses on the issue of personality identity, is incomplete and is therefore challenged by traditional standards of psychological continuity on the issue of personality identity. A complete animalism should include a proper model of self and promised a general position on the question of consciousness, in other words, as part of a naturalist holistic worldview.
