Editor’s Choice As a curator, the earliest and most important occupation was the professional staff responsible for collecting research, storage and display in the Western Museum since the 16th century. After the 17th century, Western museums often organized a number of thematic art exhibitions or exhibitions by age or theme, resulting in the emergence of the early “curators”. After the 18th century, permanent curators of art institutions appeared in places such as Europe and the United States. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, independent curators emerged in the West. Western curatorial system entered China in the late 1980s and 1989 China Contemporary Art Exhibition created the first curators in China. The curatorial exhibition has now become an important part of Chinese contemporary art. In this issue, we invite relevant experts to conduct an academic exploration on the issue of curating so as to provide a valuable academic coordinate for the study of contemporary Chinese art.
