一九九七年初夏,到意大利水上之都参观威尼斯双年展。结束了双年展举办的颁奖观礼后,离开这个过度拥挤的第一展览会场,一群朋友走到旧日造船厂改建的第二会场。一八九三年开始的威尼斯双年展,曾经是未来派的大本营,希特勒痛斥为堕落艺术的讨伐对象;到了二次大战后,原本秉持世界一同的良意,双年展旧别馆再加上新设计的建筑,都拥有了自己的国名,仿如联合国般充斥着另一种国家主义。旧造船厂改成的第二会场,以大会主动邀约的艺术家为主,国家的旗帜终于消失。我们一群人先出了第二会场,沿水道旁的巷子漫步,而后随意找了一家平常小馆,简单进食。一位同行的意大利艺术家聊起了
In the early summer of 1997, visit the Venice Biennale to the Water Capital of Italy.
