The mining industry has historically been an important economic unit in Namibia. In the ten years from 1975 to 1984, the average output value of mining industry accounted for 34% of the GDP, up from 46.6% in 1978. In recent years, although the mining industry was affected by the weak mineral market prices, The larger achievements have added to the small gains, so the mining industry still occupies an important position.
