A
I could not tell what part of the world this might be, otherwise than that I know it must be part of America, and as I concluded by all my observations, must be near the Spanish dominions, and perhaps was all inhabited by savages, where if I should have landed, I had been in a worse condition than I was now; and therefore I acquiesced in the dispositions of providence, which I began now to own, and to believe, ordered everything for the best; I say, I quieted my mind with this, and left afflicting myself with fruitless wishes of being there.
Besides, after some pause upon this affair, I considered, that if this land was the Spanish coast, I should certainly, one time or other, see some vessel pass or repass one way or other; but if not, then it was the savage coast between the Spanish country and Brazils, which are indeed the worst of savages; for they are cannibals, or meneaters, and fail not to murder and devour all the humane bodies that fall into their hands.
With these considerations I walked very leisurely forward, I found that side of the island where I now was, much pleasanter than mine, the open or savanna fields sweet, adorned with flowers and grass, and full of very fine woods. I saw abundance of parrots, and fain I would have caught one, if possible to have kept it to be tame, and taught it to speak to me. I did, after some pains taking, catch a young parrot, for I knocked it down with a stick, and having recovered it, I brought it home; but it was some years before I could make him speak: however, at last I taught him to call me by my name very familiarly. But the accident that followed, though it be a trifle, will be very diverting in its place.
I was exceedingly diverted with this journey: I found in the low grounds hares, as I thought them to be, and foxes, but they differed greatly from all the other kinds I had met with; nor could I satisfy myself to eat them, though I killed several. But I had no need to be venturous; for I had no want of food, and of that which was very good too; especially these three sorts, viz., goats, pigeons, and turtle or tortoise; which, added to my grapes, Leadenhall Market could not have furnished a table better than I, in Proportion to the company; and though my cafe was deplorable enough, yet I had great cause for thankfulness, that I was not driven to any extremities for food; but rather plenty, even to dainties.
36. What does the underlined word “cannibals” (paragraph 1) mean?
A. good friends
B. somebody strange
C. dangerous creatures
D. useful tools
37. Which statement is reasonable according to this passage?
A. To enjoy my vacation, I decided to have a trip around the island.
B. I didn’t know where I was at that moment.
C. When I wanted something, I could get it from Leadenhall Market.
D. I was sure I would go back home very soon.
38. Why did the author not want to eat animals killed by himself?
A. He didn’t enjoy them.
B. He regretted doing that, and thought it cruel.
C. He was afraid of being ill.
D. He saved them for others.
39. How did “I” feel about his own situation on the lonely island?
A. Lucky. B. Desperate.
C. Bearable. D. Wonderful.
40. This passage mostly comes from .
A. A newspaper B. A novel
C. A science report D. An advertisement
B
After many years of searching, the seeker was told to go to a cave, in which he would find a well (井). “Ask the well what is truth,” he was advised, “and the well will show it to you.” Having found the well, the seeker asked that most fundamental question. And from the depths came the answer, “Go to the village crossroad: there you shall find what you are seeking.”
Full of hope, the man ran to the crossroad to find only three rather uninteresting shops. One shop was selling pieces of metal, another sold wood, and thin wires (金属丝) were for sale in the third. Nothing and no one at the crossroad seemed to have much to do with truth. Disappointed, the seeker returned to the well to demand an explanation, but he was told only, “You will understand in the future.” When the man protested, all he got in return were the echoes of his own shouts.
Although he was angry for being made a fool of, the seeker continued his search for truth. As years went by, the memory of his experience at the well was gradually disappearing until one night, while he was walking in the moonlight, the sound of sitar (锡塔琴) music caught his attention. It was wonderful music and it was played with great mastery and inspiration.
Deeply moved, the truth seeker walked towards the player. He looked at the fingers dancing over the strings. He became aware of the sitar itself. And then suddenly he exploded in a cry of joyous recognition: the sitar was made out of wires and pieces of metal and wood just like those he had once seen in the three shops and had thought it to be without any particular meaning.
At last he understood the message of the well: we have already been given everything we need; our task is to put together and use it in the proper way. Nothing is meaningful if we look at it as separate fragments. But as soon as the fragments come together, a new thing comes out, whose beauty we could not have expected by considering the fragments alone.
41. It is mostly possible that we can read the passage as
A. a tale B. an advertisement
C. a novel D. a science report
42. Which word can’t express the seeker’s feeling properly?
A. unhappy B. puzzled
C. frightened D. hopeful
43. The phrase “exploded in a cry of joyous recognition” in Paragraph 4 most probably means “”.
A. was happy about his finding
B. felt very sad about the result
C. cried for the ending of his seeking
D. burst into tears for his failure
44. According to the passage, which of the following is true?
A. The seeker got what he was searching for
B. He found a sitar in the second shop eventually
C. A wise man once lived in the cave
D. The player told the seeker what the truth was
45. It can be inferred that the writer wants to tell us .
A. the seeker could find nothing related to truth
B. the seeker was told what truth was eventually
C. separate fragments are useless in our real life
D. it is important to make full use of what we have
There are two types of twins: identical and nonidentical twins. Identical twins are formed from a single egg in mother’s body which divides to form two separate babies. Identical twins look the same, and are often dressed by the parents in clothes of the same colors. It is often difficult to tell identical twins from each other, even when they are standing side by side. Nonidentical twins came into being when the mother produces two separated eggs at the same time, both of which grow to form babies. In the case the twins look like normal brothers and sisters and are easy to tell one from the other.
In the 1970s and 1980s a scientist did some research into twins. He invited many pairs of identical twins to university and asked them to take part in a week of tests. He was particularly interested in adopted twins who had been separated, at birth. He would give the twins different kinds of tests to study their speed of thinking, their speech, their memory, the ways they saw and heard different things, and so on. Time and time again he found separated twins who preferred clothes of the same color, used the same kind of shaving soap, wore the same shaped square glasses and the same colored socks.
There is a third type of twins, but it is a very unusual one. Twins who are joined together at birth are known in western countries as Siamese (连体) twins.

17. A。根据“They tell me you are 16me to earth tomorrow,”可知the child迫切的想知道自己那么弱小而且无助该怎么能够在地球上生存?
21. D。根据上一小节的“I don’t do anything else 20sing and smile, that’s enough for me to be happy.”
22. C。可以参照下文的“Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words you will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your angel will teach you how to speak.”
28. D。young表示“年轻的”,A项 small不能表达此意;B项中的old和C项的new都与题意不符合。
35. A。根据横线之前的“You will simply call her ....”
A篇
36—40 CBCCB
36. C。因为文中meneaters是该词的同位语,而且后面一句and fail not to murder and devour all the humane bodies that fall into their hands就是对于前面的解释。
37. B。 I could not tell what part of the world this might be一句就已经说明了该选项正确;而且主人公一个人处于孤岛中,不是为了度假而旅游,也没有机会回家或者到市场买东西。
38. C。文中的But I had no need to be venturous; for I had no want of food, and of that which was very good too;一句可以说明该问题。
39. C。可以根据and though my cafe was deplorable enough, yet I had great cause for thankfulness, that I was not driven to any extremities for food; but rather plenty, even to dainties.
41—45 ACAAD
46. Types
47. twins
48. single
49. babies
50. eggs
51. same
52. Difficult
53. difference
54. Joined
55. color

BodyDavid,
I’m happy to receive your email. You want to learn some knowledge about rare earth in China. Now I will tell you something about it.
Above all, rare earth is one of the richest strategic resources in China. Though the amount of the reserve, output and export is the largest in the world, unfortunately, China has no pricing right on rare earth. Rare earth has recently been exported about 10 times more than ten years ago. However, the average price is only equal to 64 percent of before. As a result, more than two third of rare earth has flown outward. Besides, the waste of rare earth has being puzzling us a lot, and the environment has being polluted seriously because of extracting rare earth.
After all, it is time that China should take some measures to protect the national profit on rare earth.

A
I could not tell what part of the world this might be, otherwise than that I know it must be part of America, and as I concluded by all my observations, must be near the Spanish dominions, and perhaps was all inhabited by savages, where if I should have landed, I had been in a worse condition than I was now; and therefore I acquiesced in the dispositions of providence, which I began now to own, and to believe, ordered everything for the best; I say, I quieted my mind with this, and left afflicting myself with fruitless wishes of being there.

Yours,
