Eugene O’Neill, the “father of American drama,” has injected fresh vitality into the theater in the United States and the world with its pioneering spirit. One of the characteristics of drama creation is that the author faithfully and objectively reproduces the important fragments of his life experiences in the main works. These include the unspeakable love-hate emotional experience between Eugene O’Neill’s family members and some of the important events that he experienced in his youth, such as ideal disillusionment, attempted suicide and being sent to a nursing home for rest. It is this series of unforgettable experiences that have inspired O’Neill’s thinking about the establishment of human status and the status of individuals in society.
