G. von Bekesy (1899 ~ 1972) was born in Hungary and later moved to the United States. He is a physicist and made a significant contribution to auditory physiology. He received the 1961 Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine for discovering the physical mechanism of sensory cochlear implants.
