The three short stories listed here are taken from three collections of short stories respectively by Julio Ramón Ribeyro (1929-), the famous contemporary writer in Peru. The Spider Web was chosen from The Vulture without Feathers (1955), which depicts a poor girl who escaped from the wolf’s nest and fell into the trap of the tiger’s mouth. The Banquet was taken from The Stories Around (1958) , Outlines the ugly face of a malicious smuggler, he in order to get together, for personal gain, sparing no expense to hold a grand banquet, the result has come to an empty, I laughed the world; “worthless Indians life” selected from “ Bottles and people ”(1964), accusing capitalist society of insulting human lives. In 1973 and 1977, Ribeiro compiled a collection of nearly ten short stories that he had published since 1952 into three volumes and published it again, entitled “La palabrg del mudo.” According to the author, he is speaking for the lower-class people, deprived of the right to speak, like dumb. From the works of Ribeiro’s point of view, writers did call out their voices. --editor
