Some authors have investigated the problem of deteriorating the performance of a countercurrent heat exchanger by axial heat conduction. Kroeger calculated the total heat loss of the heat exchanger at various flow parameters based on the original equations of Landau and Hlinka. However, none of these papers explicitly consider the relationship between the partition wall and the lateral heat transfer resistance. However, they try to use the low thermal conductivity of the material to make wall partitions to reduce the axial heat conduction, but also increase the lateral heat flow resistance, thereby reducing the overall heat transfer efficiency of the heat exchanger.
