陶瓷彩绘分釉上彩及釉下彩两大类。青花瓷器是属于釉下彩的一种。它是采用呈稳定蓝色的稀有金氧化钴及铁、锰的混合物(我国出产的叫珠明料)作为着色剂,颜色渗透到胎骨,罩上一层青白釉,使器皿的花纹闪耀着像宝石蓝的光彩,让人感到清澈明快,幽雅宁静,浑厚朴实。釉下彩不像轴上彩那样容易脱落,很适合于饮食用具的装饰,所以受到广大人民的喜爱的。青花绘瓷艺术,在我国陶瓷厂史上有着光耀灿烂的成就。明代民间青花风格豪放、洒脱、简练、表现力强(青花在坯上描绘,坯有吸水性,可以表现大写意,也可以勾填,没有任何拘束),有些作品已超过了同时代的绘画水平。明清的官窑青花,工整、清纯,另成一格。我国的青花瓷器无论在题材内容、装饰结构及绘瓷技法等方面都达到炉火加纯的境地。
