Objective To evaluate the development and changes of sleep-wake pattern in the first year after birth by using Actiwatch to provide a reference for evaluating early infant sleep. METHODS: From October 2009 to October 2011, 32 infants delivered at Haidian MCH in Beijing were prospectively tracked from 0 to 12 months old at night in their natural environment. , Monitoring the age point including 1 to 6, 9, 12 months after birth, a total of 8 times. Observation time for each 60h. The Actiwatch wristwatch activity recorder was used to collect sleep-wake information at each monitoring age. Results With the increase of age, the total nocturnal nighttime sleep time (366.07 ~ 497.04min) and the longest continuous sleep time (213.21 ~ 381.10min) were gradually prolonged. The total nocturnal nighttime sleep time of infants was increased compared with that of 1 month after birth For 102.57min, the longest continuous sleep of 6 months old compared with 1 month increased 99.39min, the difference was statistically significant (t = 4.12,5.45, P <0.05). The latent period of falling asleep (56.85 ~ 15.13min) and the number of awakening (2.83 ~ 1.60 times) of infants decreased with the increase of age. The latency of 4 months of infancy was 29.65min lower than that of 1 month old and 5 months old Compared with 1 month old, the difference was statistically significant (t = 9.47, 3.51, P <0.05). There was no significant difference between adjacent age groups and between different genders. Conclusion The nighttime sleep-wakefulness pattern of infant in Haidian Haadian District changed most rapidly within 4 to 6 months after birth. The infant’s ability of falling asleep at night and continuous sleep increased with age.
