萍丝虫是红萍的主要害虫,在福州地区年繁殖14~15代,危害严重时,亩虫口密度达2000~4000万头,3~4天就能将红萍毁灭.夏季,世代周期为15~18天,田间常表现世代交替.因此,它是红萍越夏及保种的主要障碍.目前,用呋喃丹农药防治,药效日渐下降,对老龄幼虫的杀灭效果更差,所以,急需寻找出高效低毒的农药来替代它.1983~1984年,我们用B.t.i生物农药防治萍丝虫已收到良好效果.
