After the Lugouqiao Incident, the overseas Chinese detained in North Korea must seek to maintain harmonious relations with the Japanese authorities because of the helplessness of the Chinese overseas. In particular, the Consulate General in Beijing (Seoul) faces a difficult choice of alternative. The fall of Nanjing prompted Fan Husheng, the consul-general in Seoul, to leave the Chiang government and support the puppet regime in Nanjing. The overseas Chinese in North Korea announced their support for the interim government and their nationals as friendly nations of Japan. In the 1940s, the Eighth Route Army made use of the overseas Chinese in North Korea to carry out anti-Japanese activities. The Incheon Incident has intensified the conflicts between the overseas Chinese in North Korea and the Japanese colonial authorities. Japan’s domination of the North Korean colonies began to be shaken by the forces of consulates and ordinary overseas Chinese under the management of the pseudo-Nanking regime in Nanjing.
