Plasma prolactin and cortisol concentrations increase after spontaneous epileptic episodes. The secretion of these hormones is controlled by the complex neuronal regulatory machinery. For this reason, the authors measured plasma prolactin and corticosteroid concentrations in 19 patients with epilepsy at night and compared them to 12 normal volunteers. The results showed that the 10 volunteers had the lowest plasma corticosteroids at midnight, the lowest at 8Pm, the lowest at 8m, the second at 8Am and the second at 4Am. Seizures had similar plasma corticosteroid rhythms, the lowest in 17 at midnight, the lowest at 8pm and 4Am in 2 patients, the lowest at 8m in 13 patients and the highest in 4Am in 5 patients. There was no significant difference in the average plasma concentrations of corticosteroids between the two groups during the above period. Review the normal human prolactin curve, combined with specimens taken every 30 minutes at night, the following conclusions: 1. Plasma prolactin fluctuations and 4 hours once the same specimen analysis, that is in the range of 5 ~ 28ng / ml. 2.
