江苏在发展外向型经济中,十分注重开放港口的建设。 首先,对江苏沿海唯一的大港——连云港进行扩建。1981年10月三突堤码头主体工程开工。1983年5月庙岭港区第一期工程主体工程全面开工。1986年建成1今1.6万吨级和1个3.5万吨级共2个深水煤炭泊位,设计吞吐能力为900万吨,工程总投资37704万元,其中煤码头23840万元,港口铁路911万元。1987年10月三突堤4个万吨级通用泊位工程(2.5万和1.5万吨级各2个)竣工。同年5月,连云港庙岭第二期工程主体工程开工,包括有5个万吨级泊位(其中2个万吨级木材泊位,1个3.5万吨级散货泊位和2个年设计能力20万标准箱的集装箱泊位)。从1973~1989年国家为改造扩建连云港老港区,共投资近14亿元。1993年12月连云港全长6.7公里的拦海大堤胜利合龙。同时由江苏、甘肃、陕西三省和连云港港务局及交通部合资建设的墟沟一期工程——6个万吨级件杂货码头也于1993年正式开工建设。1993年连云港完成吞吐量达1416.6万吨,其中外贸吞吐量669.7万吨(进244.5万吨,出425.2万吨)。目前,连云港已经由一个只能接纳3000~5000吨级海轮的港口,成为一个具有一定规模、多功能、辐射范围较广的
