The Library of Congress, the oldest cultural institution in the U.S. capital, is unique in American civilization. When it was founded in 1800, it was a legislative library, which developed into a state institution in the 19th century and was a product of American cultural nationalism. After World War II, the museum became the largest library in the world with unprecedented international resources. The Library of Congress consists of three majestic buildings on Capitol Hill - the Thomas Jefferson Tower, the John Adams Tower and James
