There is evidence that chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) is a clonal malignancy. Since the structural gene of glucose hexaphosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) is located on the X chromosome, it was used as a marker for the study. In the early stages of embryogenesis, one of two X stained offs per somatic cell is randomly inactivated. Their daughter cells show only the type of enzyme that is determined by another active X chromosome. Thus G6PD female heterozygous tissue is a mixture of type A enzyme cells and type B enzyme cells. In a G6PD heterozygote, if a malignant tumor originates from one cell, all malignant cells have only one type of G6PD. Ph ~ 1 positive slow granules in line with this situation
