陕西关中西部是中国古代青铜镈的主要出土地之一,扶风任家、眉县杨家村和宝鸡县太公庙出土的7件青铜镈具有代表性,充分表现出西周中期至春秋早期该地铜镈的基本特征。这些铜镈应源于北方夏商时期的铜铃,其时代分别在西周中晚期和春秋早期,它们应是由本地铸造的青铜乐器,但也不排除同时吸收了其它地方特别是南方诸文化因素的影响。关中西部铜镈多为窖藏出土,体形硕大,装饰风格独特。在装饰手法上,浮雕、透雕和阴线雕刻相结合,并铸有长篇铭文,具有鲜明的地方特色,与南方湘水流域出土的同期镈相比,表现出极大的差异性。
