第九届全国桥梁工程学术会议于1990年4月17至20日在杭州召开。铁路、公路、市政及大专院校有关专家、教授共239人到会入选集论文114篇,约120万字,内容较丰富,充分反映了我国近几年来桥梁建设在设计、施工和在理论方面所取得的可喜的进步。这一形势标志着我国的大跨度桥梁技术正逐步赶上国际先进水平。正如李国豪教授在开幕式中所评价的:“我国的桥梁技术反映了80年代水平,斜拉桥与国际水平差距不大,现代悬索桥虽有差距,很可能国内悬索桥将有新的建设项目纳入议程。到本世纪末,我国的大跨度桥梁与世界并驾齐驱是完全可能的。”
