The international vegetable market has a relatively large gap in recent years. The difference between the total demand and the market supply is about 5 million tons. There are mainly two reasons for the vegetable market gap: First, the vegetable self-sufficiency in many developed countries is not enough. According to the FAO data, the self-sufficiency rates of vegetables in Germany, Britain, Canada and Japan in 1961 were 73.72%, 74.72%, 66.73% and 99.48 %, And then dropped to 27.79%, 49.78%, 44.27% and 81.47% respectively in 2000; secondly, the demand for multi-variety and multi-taste green vegetables in the international market is steadily rising. Although China’s vegetable trade has comparative advantages in terms of price and other aspects, its demand in the international market is constantly changing and the quality of its own vegetables is constantly increasing. China’s vegetable trade will face various challenges and opportunities.
