Back in 2003, when I had my first digital SLR camera, the Canon 10D, I bought a homemade 77mm diameter, infrared filter with a wavelength of 760nm and tried infrared photography. I put this filter in front of the camera test shot, only in the bathroom Yuba glare to take a few overexposed photos, outdoors, you need tens of seconds of exposure time, and is extremely low contrast black and white images . Then came to understand this is because the camera CMOS image sensor installed in front of the low-pass filter blocking most of the infrared light, the need for long-term exposure in order to get faint infrared images, and the image contrast is very low. Such results and I have seen foreign infrared photography is very different, all of a sudden interest, the year was bought at a high price of infrared filters have been shelved.
