English literature is the main body of South African literature during the race. The special status and use of English, the education of British immigrants, the harsh censorship system and other reasons contributed to the rise of white English literature. The funding of early colonial institutions, the paucity of dialect publishers and the violent dominance of Dutch settlers forced black writers to convey the misery and ideals of Africans in Western languages such as English. Under special historical and political contexts, English literature in South Africa presents distinctive literary features. South African English literature is traumatic literature. The writer has written all kinds of individual trauma and the hidden trauma suffered by him. Through writing, he also claimed and culturally constructed the groups’ pains and disasters. South African English literature is also apocalyptic literature. Literary works are not only a projection of the future time, but also a metaphorical expression of current life. However, no matter it is a white or a black writer, English literature in South Africa focuses only on a certain class or level of racial society.
