In many transmitter applications, it is desirable to have a controllable low sidelobe radiation pattern from array antennas fed by multiple, identical solid state sources. The paper describes an experimental linear feed network that achieves this by controlling the amplitude and phase of the array elements by a “single phase shift”. The details of the experimental equipment in the transmit and receive modes and the measured radiation pattern are given.
