继撰写《二流学者何以当选学部委员——质问中国社科院》挑起争端之后,郑也夫又征集了3000人签名,在网上发表《给刘漠书记和郭金龙代市长的公开信》,为野泳者辩护“大多数人到了中年后思想趋于稳定,只有一小撮人终生保持不确定状态,处于悬置状态,这一小撮人是‘怪物’,叫做知识分子。知识分子最理想的生活环境是大学,因为他们可以被青年人包围着,这些年轻人正处于‘半疯’状态,而知识分子终生都是半疯的。”
