Sedimentary diatoms have the characteristics of wall thickness, easy to dissolve and easy to preserve, which has attracted the attention of researchers in biology and geology at home and abroad. Some Japanese scholars have studied depositional diatoms in areas such as the Gulf of Mexico and other areas of the Gulf of Mexico. Jinde Xiang et al. Reported on surface sediment diatoms in the East China Sea. In this paper, the species composition and abundance distribution of surface sedimentary diatoms in Jiangsu, Shanghai, Zhejiang and Fujian northern coastal waters were studied, and the sedimentary environment was discussed. In terms of geology and geomorphology, Hangzhou Bay can serve as a boundary and divide the coastal waters into two parts. The coastline to the north of the coast is flat and shallow; the coastline to the south is complicated with many reefs and large changes in water depth.
