公路路基加宽的关键问题是如何减少新老路基之间的差异沉降、并保证新老路基之间的有效连接。文章就此问题,从差异沉降控制标准、施工措施以及理论计算分析等3个方面进行了回顾与总结,指出目前的研究主要是针对平原地区的低矮路堤拓宽工程,而且大部分是建立在饱和理论基础上的只考虑自重荷载的静载分析。尽快确定差异沉降的控制标准、施工中动载的影响、非饱和土中地下水的分布特征对路基加宽工程变形与稳定性的影响、山区高填路堤拓宽工程中变形和稳定的各种影响因素的是进一步的研究方向。
