Marine history and marine archeology research involves more than just vessels and those directly related to ship construction, driving, navigation and more. In addition, as a result of research and archaeological excavations, those that help us fully understand the ship and its crew from a broader context, ship design is likely to appear on land. However, any archeological excavations are conducted in a given socio-cultural relationship that may have an impact on the excavation and thus on the value of the unearthed artifacts, especially those artifacts that have an important bearing on our perception . As the Hong Kong Heritage and Monuments Ordinance stipulates that only artifacts dating back to the 1800’s can be considered as artifacts, the excavation of four 19th-century guns was caused. It lasted until six years of excavation and protection work after the end of its value identification and historical research, a series of delays also affected our understanding of the history and the naval port of Hong Kong cognition and interpretation.
