Gail Jones is a famous contemporary Australian woman writer. In the novel “Sixty Lamps,” she created Lucy, the heroine with a complicated and tumultuous diaspora. Lucy migrated from Australia, the birthplace of England, to Britain, from England to India, and finally to Britain, where she was almost always in a stream of casualties. This journey followed her constant memories and memories of her homeland, accompanied by the unfulfilled loneliness and the incompetence of being an alien in a foreign country. However, this process also allowed Lucy to have multiple perspectives across nationalities and ethnic groups. She has a different understanding and tolerance of differences and conflicts among cultures. Author Gael Jones made some expectations and prospects of Lucy’s interpersonal intercultural exchange and integration through Lucas’s experience of exile and love. He has cross-cultural perspectives in the diaspora and sincerely understands and embraces the cultures of all countries. With this Beyond the race and ethnic love set up a bridge between cultures.
