Fifteen years ago, the former Soviet Communist Party, with 15 million members and 74 years in power, was forced to dissolve after the “August First Incident” and the socialist Soviet Union has since become history. Our party, which leads the people throughout the country, ushered in its 85th anniversary in its march of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects and has grown into a party full of vitality and vigor with a membership of more than 70 million. As the two largest ruling parties in the international communist movement, why did the CPC and the CPSU have such fate? On July 23, 2006, Huang Wei-chang accepted an interview with this reporter on the related issues.
