The inventory of irrigated crop land is an important task for assessing agricultural yields and for the most efficient management of water resources to meet the needs of agriculture. Remote sensing uses a variety of space sensors to perform such inventories with efficiency. Near-polar orbiting solar-synchronous terrestrial satellites from Approximately 910 kilometers of sky provide overlapping coverage and macroscopic images, making them particularly suitable for studying the status of irrigated land on large areas of land.
