The development and informatization of SMEs have become the main theme of this year at the point when China is about to enter the WTO. SMEs are particularly important in the rapidly growing Asia-Pacific region, where 95% of SMEs employ 80% of the workforce, 30-60% of GNP and 35% of total exports. Such an important position undoubtedly made SMEs the target of all manufacturers. How SMEs should make use of information technology to accelerate innovation and development and enhance their own core competitiveness has become an urgent issue to be considered.
