With regard to the theoretical assumption that economically and culturally backward countries transcend capitalism and the “Caffingding Gorge”, that is, Marx’s leapfrogging theory came into being, the debate on this issue has never ceased. In our country, especially since the 1990s, the study, interpretation and discussion of this issue have always been the hot topics in academia. The author believes that paying attention to this issue not only concerns the study of Marx’s thoughts in his later years, but also relates to the reform and construction of realistic socialism. This article intends to clarify the interpretation of Marx’s theory of leapfrogging on the basis of the study of the relationship between the idea of striding across capitalism and the “Cafudin Canyon” and the actual practice of socialism.
