In many people's memories of their childhood, the most tasty, favorite and beautiful things were always sought at the free markets before the Spring Festival.
The most famous free market in Qingdao is located in Li Village. When the Spring Festival is coming, the free market here can extend into a long line. The peddlers' yell, the noisy bargaining, and the parents' calling for their children make the free market very bustling. Moreover, in the first month of the Chinese lunar year, Qingdao also hosts such markets as the Turnip Fair and Tangqiu (Candied Haws) Fair, on which the folk custom performance like dough figure making, playing-with-monkey opera, and eating sugar figures are on display.
Nowadays, instead of going shopping, many people go to the free market just for fun.
