The new GE model, which describes the adsorption of a liquid mixture on a solid surface, is a mixture of adsorbate and adsorbent compared to the traditional adsorption equilibrium model, and the adsorbent is an additional component. By introducing Gibbs excess GE into the adsorbate-solid-solution, this free energy of adsorption correlates with the respective activity coefficients of all components. This concept, hereinafter abbreviated ASST (Adsorption-Solids-Solution Theory), makes the thermodynamic description of adsorption equilibrium and thermal properties more consistent. Evaluating Gibbs’ Excess Free Energy Using Wilson Model in Evaluation. Preliminary results show that using ASST to compare different types of surface excess isotherms and predict their temperature dependence has good results. In addition, the theory predicts excess surface isotherms of binary liquid mixtures if the parameters describing the fluid dependency of the adsorbent and the individual phases have been estimated by different surface excess isotherms.
