Since the end of the 19th century, foreigners frequently visited the northwest of China for “inspection” and plundered many precious cultural relics. In the spring of 1927, when it was learned that the Swedish Sven Heding and his entourage were going to re-enter the northwestern region of our country, they aroused strong academic attention. More than a dozen academic groups in Beijing immediately held a meeting to establish the “Association of Chinese Academic Societies,” and appointed Liu Bannong and Zhou Zhaoxiang Negotiated with Sven Hedin on April 26 and passed the agreement on setting up the “Sino-Swiss Northwest Scientific Delegation” on April 26. The agreement stipulates that all inspection work should be conducted under the leadership of the Association of Chinese Academic Societies, and the products collected will be returned to China. This is a major event in the history of modern science in our country. It has thus ended the history of foreigners ignoring China's sovereignty and plundering China's cultural relics.
