In the mid-1980s, there was a big joke in the Chinese press. A newspaper posted a successful achievement of foreign ’latest science and technology’ - the successful grafting of tomatoes and cattle. Then many newspapers and magazines reprinted this anecdote and made a big splash. However, after a long period of time, people did not realize that this was a misrepresentation caused by a translation error. Since there have been many strange phenomena in the press in which such kind of ’oddities and wonders are enjoyed and no doubt is analyzed,’ some have argued that journalists should be ’scholarly’. In fact, it is too hard for journalists to be scholarly scholars. In fact, China’s scientific community has not yet seen any indication of what happened to this ’genetic engineering achievement.’ This shows that one science and technology lags behind It is difficult for the state and journalism to lead the way.
