Researchers in the United States said the drugs used to treat children’s HIV infection do not appear to increase their risk of mental problems. Researchers have been concerned about the high rates of mental and learning problems among HIV-infected children. Dr Sharon Nachman of the State University of New York at Stony Brook said the researchers were interested in the question of why such children had so many problems because of HIV infection or because of antiretroviral drugs or other factors Related findings were published in the Children’s and Adolescent Medical Literature.
