西瓜地膜覆盖具有提高地温的效果,特别是低温季节、浅层土壤和晴朗天气增温效果尤其显著。地温的日变化,以浅层土壤日变幅度较大,阴天地温日变化较为平稳。一日当中,最低地温出现在6—8时,最高地溫出现在14—16时。地膜覆盖可抑制土壤水分蒸发,水分在膜下进行“内循环”,具有明显保湿效应;但在西瓜生长中后期,由于覆盖植株蒸腾面积大于对照植株,致使土壤含水量可能出现逆差。地膜覆盖促进了西瓜根系生长,根深、根量、根重都明显大于对照植株。扩大了吸收面积,促进了地上部生长发育,雌花出现早,座果节位低,同化面积加大,提高了光合产量和生物产量具有显著早熟增产效应。
