Objective To explore the condition of Eysenck’s personality in train drivers and to provide a psychological basis for the safety of railway traffic. Methods A total of 403 train drivers in Liuzhou locomotive depot were tested by Eysenck’s Adult Personality Scale revised by Gong Yaoxian. Criteria for evaluation: The extrinsic (E) and neurotic (N) dimensions were divided into five categories: ① T <38.5 was typical inset (or typical instability); ② T 38.5-43.3 was intentive (or stable); ③ T 43.4 ~ 56.6 for the middle; ④ T 56.7 ~ 61.5 is extraversion (or unstable tendency); ⑤ T> 61.5 is a typical camber (or typical instability). The psychoticism (P), disguise tendency (L) dimensions to higher than the average score to determine the extent, P scale: T> 61.5 for the typical mental quality, T 56.7 ~ 61.5 for the trend of mental quality, T <56.7 for Normal, L Scale: T> 70 is invalid. Results 142 (35.23%) had extraversion and typical camber, 145 (35.98%) had unstable mood and typical instability. Emotional instability accounted for 58.82% (50/85) of introverts and 16 (3.97% ) People tend to spiritual quality and the typical spiritual quality; social disguise tendency was skewed distribution. Compared with the administrative staff and the workers (P <0.05), N values (neuroticism) and L values (disguise tendencies) were significantly lower than those of the administrative staff, workers, scientific and technical personnel and judicial police. (P <0.05); There was significant difference between P value (mental quality) and administrative staff, scientific and technical personnel and judicial police (P <0.05); E, N, P, Only N (neuroticism) values in education level had statistical significance (P <0.01). Conclusions The train driver Eysenck’s personality traits tend to be emotionally unstable, simple and naive and tender; people who are more outward-oriented are more suitable for working as train drivers; and Eysenck’s personality traits are slightly affected by age and education level.
