A characteristic of the development of modern science is that the branches within the same discipline are getting more and more finer and the different disciplines are more and more interdependent and the boundaries are gradually blurred. The intersection of such sciences is often the point of growth of new disciplines. This is evidenced by the rapid development of neuroscience in recent years. The importance of neuroscience has become increasingly prominent. Foreign scientists believe that neuroscience may be the most accomplished field in bioscience at the end of this century. In order to promote the development of neuroscience, all over the world have established interdisciplinary neuroscience societies. The International Brain Research Organization (IBRO) has evolved into a coalition of national neuroscience research societies. To this end, the Chinese Academy of Sciences initiated the establishment of the Shanghai Neuroscience Research Association of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in various related research institutes in Shanghai to conduct interdisciplinary academic exchanges and promote the development of neuroscience. Our forerunners of neuroscience, Feng Depei and Zhang Xiangtong, and leaders at all levels of the Academy of Sciences expressed their enthusiastic support for the founding of the Institute. Our correspondents were invited to attend the conference. The abstract of the conference academic report is now published as a reader, which also means our congratulation on the founding of the Shanghai Neuroscience Research Association of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
