The United States Army’s Missile Research and Development Command recently started a research mission for the advanced guidance and control system of the future U.S. Army’s missiles. This mission is intended to jump over the system under study now to meet the stringent requirements and constraints set forth by the projected target characteristics of the 1990s and the prevailing battlefield environment. The problems and narrative methods described in this paper are considered as part of a seven-year plan to develop a viable future guidance and control system. Preliminary results have been obtained and some design results have been proposed.
