The purpose of this paper is to explore physiological data on the biochemical changes affecting the energy use and behavior of the body in ground and space flight studies. Focus on the Apollo lunar expedition, Space Laboratory to expand space research and space shuttle flight energy use. Metabolism during flight and bed rest will be discussed along with research data on gastrointestinal function. The utilization of energy by human space flight can be indirectly determined by several methods, such as diet history, metabolic balance experiment, consumption of food and breathing gas. The mission of Space Labs is to document the diet that is closely related to metabolic balance studies. The energy levels provided by space food are determined in two ways, directly on the bomb calorimeter and indirectly through the calculation of carbohydrate, protein and fat intake. With the bomb calorimeter can also be directly measured with excrement, urine and other excretion of energy, roots
