棠甘山锰矿是一个新的富含硫锰矿的沉积变质型矿床.湖南冶金地质二四六队费时五年对该矿床进行了评价勘探,现将其地质特征介绍如下.矿区地质概述矿区位于湘中印支褶皱带(涟邵复向斜)北端,江南古陆南侧.矿区地层主要为震旦系,寒武系出露不全;南部走向近南北,倾向西,倾角地表缓、深部陡(33～62°),北部走向北西,倾向南西,倾角30～35°.含锰岩组处于下震旦统南沱砂岩组之
