中国青年艺术剧院的“上海屋檐下”,不但演的好,就是装置、灯光和气氛,也都丝丝入扣。有几个小地方,不知道观众注意到了没有,我在上海住过好些年,觉得导演和舞台工作人员,给了我很大的启发。第一,垃圾箱里上角,有一行小孩子写的粉笔字,“打倒小东洋“。剧本怕没有这几个字罢。它们不但暗示剧本的精神,而且正好写出上海弄堂的风光。第二,垃圾箱的墙高头,有一个“当”字,和墙一样大小,居高临下,十分触目。戏里人物都是当铺的主顾。有的是连当铺也进不去的穷光蛋。这个“当”字,又是半殖民地上海的风光,又说明人物的经济情况。这一堵垃圾(!)墙,亏导演和装置同志想的出,它的意味实在无穷。第三,黄家楣夫妻送父亲回来,和赵家夫妻分别回到自己的房间,关上纸窗,显出了人影幢幢,不久就又消失了,不但画面美,意境也很美。第四,楼房后头是一条后弄堂,进口的地方,有一盏半明不亮的街灯。它既不刺眼,又说明弄堂的形
