Kaavan the elephant is described as“the world’s loneliest elephant”. After spending years alone2 in a zoo in Pakistan， Kaavan arrived in Cambodia. He will have lots of elephant friends.
大象卡万被称作“世界上最孤独的大象”。在巴基斯坦一所动物园独自生活多年之后，卡万抵达了柬埔寨。以后它将拥有许多大象朋友。
Kaavan was the only Asian3 elephant in Pakistan. He was given to Pakistan in 1986， and later went to Islamabad’s Marghazar Zoo.
卡万曾经是巴基斯坦唯一的一头亚洲象。它在1986年被赠送给巴基斯坦，后来去了伊斯兰堡的玛格扎尔动物园。
Life was hard for Kaavan. The conditions4 at the zoo weren’t good. In those days， people there ordered him to use his nose to beg5 for money from zoo visitors. In 1990， a cow elephant named Saheli came to the zoo. The two spent over twenty years together.
生活对卡万而言很艰难。那家动物园的条件并不好。在那些日子里，人们命令它用鼻子从游客那儿讨钱。在1990年，母象萨希莉来到了这家动物园。它们一起度过了二十多年的时间。
But in 2012， Saheli died6. Kaavan was alone again. He became sad7 and unhealthy8.

He sometimes became violent9. He was very heavy， and his health10 got too bad.

In 2015， a student started a petition11 to save Kaavan. In 2016， reporters12 wrote about Kaavan’s conditions. Many people worked to save him. In June， 2020， the zoo closed.

Kaavan would go to Cambodia， but there were two problems. Kaavan was too heavy. And he could be violent.

But finally， Kaavan made his flight13 to Cambodia.

In December， 2020， he came to his new home. Kaavan is now in a protected area14 in Oddar Meanchey， Cambodia. There are 600 elephants. He’ll never be alone again.
