In order to find out the sedimentary dynamic characteristics and engineering geological conditions in the central and southern Bohai Sea (including the Yellow River Delta) and provide a scientific basis for the oil development and harbor construction planning, following the joint investigation of the sedimentation process of the Yangtze Estuary between China and the United States in September 1980 , China and the United States once again cooperated to conduct a special study on sedimentary dynamics and engineering geology in the Bohai Bay in the hope of obtaining valuable research results. This time, the Sino-U.S. Joint Investigation was conducted by the University of Oregon and Shandong Ocean University for the first time in sediment dynamics and engineering geological survey in the Bohai Bay and the Yellow River Estuary, which lasted for three years. From May 1985 to the first voyage of the survey, a survey was conducted from the Yellow River estuary to a water depth of -20 meters near the mouth of the Yellow River. In 1986 and 1987, a voyage to the sea was investigated each year. With Shandong
