坐落在上海市中心北京东路240号的前四明银行大楼,自1999年被上海市政府列为“优秀历史建筑”以来就受到了特别的保护。始建于1921年的这栋新古典主义建筑最初是由英资通和洋行为宁波商业储蓄银行设计的(“四明”是宁波的别称)。一个世纪以来,这栋建筑见证了租户的变迁,其中有中国人民银行、上海房地局和上海建材集团等等。这栋三层楼的建筑属砖块混凝土结构,占地总面积约2615平方米。它坐落于北京东路和江西中路路口,大楼以街角为轴,向两条路对称延伸。
The former Siming Bank Building, located at No. 240 Beijing East Road in the center of Shanghai, has been specially protected since it was listed as “Excellent Historical Building” by the Shanghai Municipal Government in 1999. The Neoclassical building, originally built in 1921, was originally designed by Ningbo Commercial Bank and British Capital and Ocean Bank (“Siming” is another name for Ningbo). For over a century, the building has witnessed changes in the tenants, including the People's Bank of China, Shanghai Housing Authority and Shanghai Building Materials Group and so on. This three-story building is a brick concrete structure, covering a total area of about 2615 square meters.
