Objective To observe the expression of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) marker in pancreatic cancer and its correlation with malignant biological behavior of pancreatic cancer. Methods The expression of Snail, E-cadherin, and Vimentin protein in 56 cases of pancreatic cancer was detected by immunohistochemistry. The results were compared with clinicopathological data. Results Snail positive expression rate was 36% (20/56) in 56 cases of pancreatic cancer. The decrease of E-cadherin expression was observed in 26 cases, and up-regulation of Vimentin expression was observed in 6 cases. Snail expression and lymph node metastasis (P<0.05), distant metastasis (P<0.01), E-cadherin expression decreased (P<0.05), Vimentin expression was high (P<0.05) There is a correlation. However, the decrease of E-cadherin expression and the high expression of Vimentin have a significant correlation with the metastasis of pancreatic cancer. Conclusion There is a re-expression of Snail in pancreatic cancer. Snail may play an important role in the invasion of pancreatic cancer by regulating epithelial mesenchymal transition.
