1996年8月25日31日,正值金秋季节的北京,人们盼望已久的国际图书馆协会联合会第62届大会在国际会议中心隆重举行,全世界图书馆界迎来了自己的一个盛典。这次大会为我们提供了一个展示新中国图书馆事业发展成就,学习国外先进经验,促进我国图书馆事业进一步发展的极好机会。大会由于得到我国政府的高度重视和支持,得到社会各界的关心和协助,得到全国图书馆界的通力合作,会议以和平、友谊、合作、发展为动力,开得很好,达到了予期的目的,取得圆满成功。
On August 25 and 31, 1996, in the autumn season of Beijing, the long-awaited International Association of Library Associations 62nd General Assembly was held at the International Convention Center. The world’s library community ushered in one of its own ceremonies . This conference provides us with an excellent opportunity to demonstrate the achievements in the development of the cause of new Chinese libraries, learn advanced foreign experiences and promote the further development of the cause of our libraries. Since the Assembly received the great attention and support from the Chinese government, it has received the care and assistance from all walks of life and has been cooperating with the entire library community.
